It's amazing..

"Who can this man be?" Paula wondered as she looked at the stranger standing at the front door. The man had a slovenly appearance, he seemed as if he were a homeless person.  Paula was as far as some few meters from him however, she could not distinguish who that odd man could be. Despite appearing to be an inoffensive man, Paula feared of him. She thought that she would not enter her house until the man decided to leave or unless to keep a distance from her house.

After waiting for nearly two hours, she decided to go to the police station and ask them to help her. When Paula arrived there, a policeman told her that all staff was working with a complicated case and that she should wait for about two hours to be assisted. She insisted on her request. However, it was pointless to stay there for such a long time as the policeman did not look so interested in solving her problem.

Hence, Paula assumed that this man should have left to another place and she decided to return to her house. When she reached there, she found that the man was not in front of her house any more. Fortunately, she could enter, take a bath and rest for a while.

While she was sleeping in her bedroom she felt a noise coming from the park. She stood up immediately and went to the window, which was in front of the park, to peep what was happening. At that moment, Paula could see her old dog running and sniffing the whole park. "What such a silly dog!," she thought, while putting her clothes on, as she knew that she would not be able to get to sleep again. Therefore, she sat on the sofa and turned on the TV. A photo frame with a picture of her father showing the moment in which he was about to fight in War World II had fallen so she stretched her hand and put it in place. Another strange noise had been heard from outside Paula's house. "Who is there?," she asked. Somebody knocked the front door and that stranger appeared again saying: "Oh, little daughter, it is years since we have seen the last time!" Paula had forgotten her father's face, as he was presumed dead and she never thought that she could see him again!

Science

Nowadays, we're convinced one of the characteristics of the current moment is the conection between the society and science. Science is one of the essential factors in the social development.

For studying the effects of science on the society, we can see that in the traditional societies the person's functions were well defined, but the science has brought the break of balance between the man and the society and a modification of the environment.

The progress of sciencehas been very fast, nevertheless in the underdeveloped countries it is being very slow, and this accentuates the difference between the two kinds of countries.

One example of the technological advance is the computers. In my office I have got a computer since I started to work. Computer has changed a lot, from software for making documents to the design of it. It's the most used tool for working. You can make documents very quickly, you can modify them, send them by email, etc.

In the future, its main advantage will be the possibility of everyone to know how to use them. Currently only a percentage of the population know how to use a computer, for example a great number of old persons are learning in special schools. But there are a high percentage of the population that don't know how to use them. I think in the future there won't be this situation, nowadays all students must learn to use a computer in the school.

A good computer close to Internet allows us to send documents to the other side of the world in a few minutes. These are some of the advantages of these multimedia materials:

To provide information, across to the database or Internet.
To increase the interest. Normally the students are very motivated when using this materials.
Support a continuous intellectual activity. The students are always in activity.

On the other side, these are some of the disadvantages:

Addiction. An excess motivation can produce addiction.
Anxiety. It can be produced by the continuous use of the computer.
Incomplete learning, etc.
